From the publisher:
"I Moved to Åre" is a book about people who came to Sweden during the most recent refugee wave and ended up in a rural area of Jämtland. When many municipalities were buckling under the strain of the large refugee wave in 2015, the municipality of Åre remained positive in its approach. It was precisely this that prompted Ulf's work about the new Swedish residents. Between 2018 and 2025, Ulf has continuously and repeatedly traveled to Åre to follow several families and unaccompanied minors in their new lives in Sweden. Ulf's photographs depict their everyday lives in a rural Swedish community, while we also get to read their remarkable stories from the past. The 160-page book contains both color and black-and-white images.
